SloFlow™ uses hand-finished cedar blocks because cedar offers steady, non-compressible support. That steadiness matters: it allows your bodyweight, breath and time to create slow sustained pressure without needing to push.

The regular block

The regular block is the most versatile choice and the best starting point for many people. It is commonly used for the ribs, hips, lower back, pelvis and broader full-body work.

The little block

The little block is useful for smaller or more sensitive areas, including the face, jaw, neck and sternum. It can also feel more approachable if your body is very sensitive to pressure.

The slope block

The slope block is angled, so it supports more directional release. It can be helpful for areas such as the psoas, IT band, diaphragm and deeper hip work once you understand the basics.

If you are unsure, begin gently. The right block should help your body listen, not brace.

Best first block for beginners

For most people, the regular cedar block is the best first choice because it works across the widest range of SloFlow™ classes. It gives enough surface area for bigger areas of the body while still being specific enough for slow fascia release.

If you are very petite, highly sensitive, or mainly interested in face, jaw, neck and sternum work, the little block may be a kinder starting point. If you already have the regular block and want more directional support, the slope block is a useful next step.

When a bundle makes sense

A bundle is helpful if you know you want a broader home practice from the beginning. The regular and little blocks together cover many common starting areas. Adding the slope creates more options for angled work around the abdomen, diaphragm, hips and legs.

Why cedar matters

The blocks are hand-finished Canadian western red cedar. Cedar gives firm, non-compressible support, which is important because SloFlow™ depends on slow sustained pressure rather than quick rolling or soft foam compression. The block should feel steady beneath you so your body can soften around it.

If you want personal guidance, Helen can help you choose the most suitable block for your body and goals.
